About

The Grand Palace in Bangkok

Hi I’m Jon Espina from the Philippines. Thank you for visiting my blog. 😉

A few years ago, I was in this beautiful island in the Philippines for a story. I was there for work, the time when I was still a producer of a documentary program in a TV network here.

I was stressed, deprived of sleep. I was beginning to question if this is really the life that I wanted, asking myself if this is all worth it.

After a lot of contemplation, I quit my job. But I am not a person born with a silver spoon in my mouth, I need to pay the bills so I looked for another job.

I decided to work in the corporate world, the usual 9-5 work.  I ‘ve learned to enjoy it. At last, I was able to have enough time to enjoy my life, reconnect with friends and do some worthy travels. It was completely different from my previous work in the media where I work long hours, non-stop for days. Currently, I work in an international shipping line handling Intra-Asia Imports.

But you know there will come a time in your life, when you will search for meaning and purpose. When your life has become a complete routine, more than the usual job that you do that pays the bills, you need to do something that feeds your soul. 🙂

That particular thing that you love to do, the work that truly matters.

If you haven’t found it. Keep looking. Keep trying new things. Remember that you have a purpose, and it’s your job to find it out. Once you do, trust me, it’s gonna be worth it.

As for me, it’s writing, inspiring stories and travel. And so this blog was born, this will be filled with stories of adventure and inspiration as I travel around the Philippines, Asia and hopefully the world!

Join me in this journey!

Well said Jon. I’ve been working as a location-independent web/graphic designer for almost a decade now and I feel it’s time for a change, or at least a shift in priorities. It’s been good to me but the work has become stale and routine. I need to spice things up again. As frightening as change can be, I’m 42 years old and don’t want to live the rest of my life bored.

Thanks for sharing your story and best of luck in all your travels. 🙂

      Hi JB,

Really appreciate your comment. it’s just nice to know that to have someone who shares the same thinking and values as me. I think we can only realize these things when we get older. Haha!

We did what the society told us to do. Study hard then get a job, but there’s really something missing. I was about 30 when I realized that I am destined to do more beyond my desk job. So here it is my blog. The one that keeps me inspired and always feeds my soul. Naks

Thanks JB. I am a reader of your blog.

      Regards,
      Jon
