About

Magat Dam

Hi! I am Jonathan Espiña, or you can simply call me Jon.

I’m a traveler from the Philippines for more than 10 years, writing and documenting my adventures and experiences in this blog. Currently, I’m traveling within my country, the Philippines, the rest of Southeast Asia, and hopefully the world.

This travel blog started in 2014 as a way for me to destress and practice my passion outside of my routinary corporate job. Now, I’m a full-time travel blogger and continuously exploring the beauty of my country and other parts of the world.

If you have any questions about the Philippines, send me an email, I’d be more than willing to help. Looking for some of the beaten destinations in the Philippines, tourist attractions, resorts, or hotels? I’ve got you covered.

Thanks for reading. In case, you’d still want to know my story. Read on.

My Story

A few years ago, I was on this beautiful island in the Philippines for a story. I was there for work, the time when I was still a producer of a documentary program on a TV network here.

I was stressed and deprived of sleep. I was beginning to question if this is really the life that I wanted, asking myself if this is all worth it.

After a lot of contemplation, I quit my job. But I am not a person born with a silver spoon in my mouth, I need to pay the bills so I looked for another job.

I decided to work in the corporate world.  I’ve learned to enjoy it. At last, I was able to have enough time to enjoy my life, reconnect with friends, and do some worthy travels. My point is, let’s do our job well in our corporate jobs, but it’s also important to have balance. Take time to also do what you love. As for me, it’s writing and traveling.

So this blog was born, this will be filled with stories of adventure and inspiration as I travel around the Philippines, Asia, and hopefully the world!

Now, Jon to the World Blog has transitioned into a travel website that serves as a reliable resource for travelers.

“But you know there will come a time in your life, when you will search for meaning and purpose. When your life has become a complete routine, more than the usual job that you do that pay the bills, you need to do something that feeds your soul. ”

Well said Jon. I’ve been working as a location-independent web/graphic designer for almost a decade now and I feel it’s time for a change, or at least a shift in priorities. It’s been good to me but the work has become stale and routine. I need to spice things up again. As frightening as change can be, I’m 42 years old and don’t want to live the rest of my life bored.

Thanks for sharing your story and best of luck in all your travels. 🙂

      Hi JB,

Really appreciate your comment. it’s just nice to know that to have someone who shares the same thinking and values as me. I think we can only realize these things when we get older. Haha!

We did what the society told us to do. Study hard then get a job, but there’s really something missing. I was about 30 when I realized that I am destined to do more beyond my desk job. So here it is my blog. The one that keeps me inspired and always feeds my soul. Naks

Thanks JB. I am a reader of your blog.

      Regards,
      Jon

Also love this part! Completely agree. Still 23 though. I just discovered I love editing travel videos and that’s what I do during weekends or free time. Thanks for sharing. Got even more inspired 👍
