Cebu Pacific Expands Fleet, Boosting Air Travel in the Philippines

In a significant move to enhance its operations and meet the rising demand for air travel, Cebu Pacific (CEB) has completed the delivery of 19 aircraft and engines in 2023. This expansion has brought the airline’s commercial fleet size to a total of 77.

The tail end of the year saw the arrival of the latest additions to the fleet, with two state-of-the-art Airbus A330neo aircraft leading the charge. Accompanying these were various other models, including the A321neo, A320neo, and A320ceo, showcasing CEB’s commitment to modernizing its fleet.

Alex Reyes, CEB’s Chief Strategy Officer, heralded this achievement as a historic milestone for the airline. He emphasized the significance of this expansion, stating, “These additions to our fleet not only bolster our capacity to fly more passengers but also underscore our commitment to ensure every Juan gets to fly to their destinations.”

In a strategic move to further augment its capacity, CEB inked a damp lease agreement with Bulgaria Air on December 5. This agreement brought two Airbus 320 CEO aircraft into the fold, which are set to service two key domestic routes in the Philippines – Cebu and Davao. This expansion is a timely boost to the country’s air travel industry, particularly in the wake of the pandemic.

Operating one of the youngest fleets in the world, CEB’s array of aircraft includes eight Airbus 330s, 35 Airbus 320s, 20 Airbus 321s, and 14 ATR turboprop aircraft. This fleet enables CEB to offer extensive network coverage across the Philippines, connecting more destinations and providing more travel options for passengers.

As Cebu Pacific continues to grow and evolve, its latest fleet expansion marks a significant step forward in enhancing air connectivity and supporting the recovery of the air travel industry in the Philippines.
