About

Magat Dam

Hi! I’m Jonathan Espiña, but you can simply call me Jon.

I’m a Filipino traveler and writer who has been exploring, writing, and documenting my adventures for more than 10 years.

Through Jon to the World, I share my experiences traveling around the Philippines, Southeast Asia, and hopefully many more parts of the world in the years to come.

This travel blog started in 2014 as a personal outlet—a way for me to de-stress, write, and pursue something I genuinely enjoyed outside my regular corporate job. What began as a simple passion project eventually grew into something much bigger.

Over the years, Jon to the World has grown into a travel website where I share practical travel guides, destination ideas, personal experiences, transportation tips, hotel and resort recommendations, food discoveries, and other useful resources for travelers.

Today, it has evolved into something even bigger—a comprehensive lifestyle and information website designed to serve as an ultimate guide for Filipinos. Beyond travel, Jon to the World now covers useful topics, timely updates, practical guides, events, festivals, work and career information, and other resources that can help Filipinos in their everyday lives.

So whether you’re planning a trip around the Philippines, looking for a new destination to explore, searching for a good hotel or resort, checking out a local festival, or simply looking for useful information that can make everyday life a little easier, I hope you’ll find something here that helps.

Jon to the World may have started as a personal travel blog, but over the years, it has grown into a much broader resource for Filipinos—while still keeping travel, exploration, and discovery at the heart of what I do.

And through all these changes, one thing has remained the same: my goal is to share useful, reliable, and easy-to-understand information based on experience, facts and the things I continue to discover along the way.

Thanks for visiting Jon to the World and for being part of the journey.

Let’s Connect

If you have a question about traveling around the Philippines, want to share a story, suggest a topic, or simply say hello, feel free to reach out to me at jontotheworld@gmail.com.

You can also connect with me on Facebook and Twitter.

Over the years, my professional journey has taken me through writing, television production, customer service, sales, digital marketing, the BPO industry, and the financial services sector. These experiences have shaped the way I communicate, tell stories, research topics, and create practical content that people can actually use.

Jon to the World may have started with travel, but the journey has continued to grow along with me. Today, it’s a place where I can share not only destinations and travel experiences, but also useful guides, timely information, and stories that matter to Filipinos.

Thanks for being here and for being part of the journey.

Welcome to Jon to the World.

There’s always something new to discover.

“But you know there will come a time in your life, when you will search for meaning and purpose. When your life has become a complete routine, more than the usual job that you do that pay the bills, you need to do something that feeds your soul. ”

Well said Jon. I’ve been working as a location-independent web/graphic designer for almost a decade now and I feel it’s time for a change, or at least a shift in priorities. It’s been good to me but the work has become stale and routine. I need to spice things up again. As frightening as change can be, I’m 42 years old and don’t want to live the rest of my life bored.

Thanks for sharing your story and best of luck in all your travels. 🙂

      Hi JB,

Really appreciate your comment. it’s just nice to know that to have someone who shares the same thinking and values as me. I think we can only realize these things when we get older. Haha!

We did what the society told us to do. Study hard then get a job, but there’s really something missing. I was about 30 when I realized that I am destined to do more beyond my desk job. So here it is my blog. The one that keeps me inspired and always feeds my soul. Naks

Thanks JB. I am a reader of your blog.

      Regards,
      Jon

Also love this part! Completely agree. Still 23 though. I just discovered I love editing travel videos and that’s what I do during weekends or free time. Thanks for sharing. Got even more inspired 👍
