Team Philippines continues its medal hunt at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, and the medal count is starting to get interesting.
After another productive day for the Filipino delegation on September 29, the Philippines has now collected 18 medals — three gold, three silver and 12 bronze.
The biggest addition came from EJ Obiena, who successfully defended his Asian Games men’s pole vault title and delivered the Philippines’ third gold medal of the competition.
And there were more medals on the same day.
Victoria Bossong captured bronze in the women’s 800 meters, Jayuard Alciso won bronze in men’s shortboard surfing, while the Philippine women’s sepak takraw doubles team secured silver.
It was the Philippines’ biggest single-day medal haul so far in the 2026 Asian Games.
This page will serve as our Team Philippines medal tracker, with the latest gold, silver and bronze medalists from the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Philippines Asian Games 2026 Medal Tally
Latest confirmed tally following the September 29 competitions:
| Medal | Philippines |
|---|---|
| 🥇 Gold | 3 |
| 🥈 Silver | 3 |
| 🥉 Bronze | 12 |
| Total | 18 |
The medal table can change quickly during the Asian Games as more finals are completed every day.
Countries are ranked primarily according to the number of gold medals won, followed by silver and bronze medals when necessary.
So while the Philippines’ overall medal total is important, every additional gold can make a significant difference in the country’s position in the Asian Games standings.
Philippines Gold Medalists at Asian Games 2026
🥇 Carlos Yulo – Artistic Gymnastics, Men’s Floor Exercise
Carlos Yulo delivered the Philippines’ first gold medal of the 2026 Asian Games after winning the men’s floor exercise.
Yulo scored 14.666 points to beat Kazakhstan’s Milad Karimi, who finished with 14.600, and Japan’s Shoma Tsukiyama, who scored 14.566.
It was also an important personal milestone for Yulo.
Already a world champion and a two-time Olympic champion, Yulo finally added an Asian Games gold medal to his collection.
And he wasn’t finished.
🥇 Carlos Yulo – Artistic Gymnastics, Men’s Vault
One day after taking the floor exercise title, Yulo returned and captured another gold medal in the men’s vault.
That immediately gave the Philippines two gold medals in Aichi-Nagoya — both coming from the same athlete.
Yulo became a two-time Asian Games champion during his highly successful campaign in Japan.
Two events.
Two gold medals.
That’s quite a way to make your mark in an Asian Games.
🥇 EJ Obiena – Athletics, Men’s Pole Vault
Then came EJ Obiena.
The Filipino pole vault star successfully defended his Asian Games title after dominating the men’s pole vault final on September 29.
Obiena was the only athlete in the competition to clear 5.75 meters.
After securing the gold, he went even higher.
He cleared 5.91 meters on his first attempt, setting a new Asian Games record and improving on the 5.90-meter record he established during the previous edition.
China’s Yao Jie took silver while Li Chenyang earned bronze.
The victory gave the Philippines its third gold medal of the 2026 Asian Games.
And once again, Obiena showed why he remains one of the biggest medal hopes for Philippine athletics.

Philippines Matches Its 2023 Total Medal Haul
Here’s something worth watching.
The Philippines has already collected 18 medals in Aichi-Nagoya — the same total number of medals it won during the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou.
The Philippines finished the Hangzhou edition with:
| Asian Games | Gold | Silver | Bronze | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hangzhou | 4 | 2 | 12 | 18 |
| Aichi-Nagoya 2026* | 3 | 3 | 12 | 18 |
*Ongoing tally following the September 29 competitions.
In Hangzhou, the country’s four gold medals came from EJ Obiena in pole vault, Meggie Ochoa and Annie Ramirez in jiu-jitsu, and Gilas Pilipinas in men’s basketball.
So the next milestone is obvious.
One more gold would equal the Philippines’ four-gold performance from the previous Asian Games.
And because the 2026 Games continue until October 4, there are still opportunities for the medal count to grow. The official Aichi-Nagoya schedule runs from September 19 through October 4.
Can the Philippines Still Win More Gold Medals?
Definitely something to follow over the remaining days.
Before the Asian Games started, Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino said the delegation was hoping to win as many as eight gold medals — twice the four golds won in each of the previous two editions.
That target has become more difficult, but several Philippine athletes are still competing.
Among the biggest names still worth monitoring are athletes in tennis, boxing, combat sports and other remaining events.
Alex Eala, for example, is scheduled to face Chinese Taipei’s Joanna Garland in the women’s singles quarterfinals, while Olympic boxing medalist Carlo Paalam is set to compete against Kazakhstan’s Makhmud Sabyrkhan in the men’s 55kg semifinal.
And this is why the medal tally can move very quickly.
One morning, the Philippines could be sitting on 18 medals.
A few finals later, that number could already be different.
Who Has Won the Most Gold Medals for the Philippines So Far?
Carlos Yulo currently leads Team Philippines with two gold medals.
He won:
- Men’s floor exercise
- Men’s vault
EJ Obiena has the Philippines’ other gold medal after winning the men’s pole vault.
That means artistic gymnastics has produced two of the Philippines’ three gold medals so far, while athletics has produced one.
Which Sports Have Produced Philippine Medals?
What I like about this year’s medal tally is the variety.
The medals haven’t come from just one or two sports.
Team Philippines has reached the podium in:
- Artistic gymnastics
- Athletics
- Basketball
- Mixed martial arts
- Karate
- Soft tennis
- Weightlifting
- Esports
- Sepak takraw
- Surfing
That shows just how wide the Philippine campaign has become.
And with competitions still ongoing, more sports could still join that list.
When Does the Asian Games 2026 End?
The 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, officially runs from September 19 to October 4, 2026.
That means there are still several competition days left for Filipino athletes to add to the medal tally.
So if you’re following Team Philippines, this medal tracker is definitely not finished yet.

Final Thoughts
Three gold.
Three silver.
Twelve bronze.
And 18 medals overall.
That is where Team Philippines stands following the September 29 competitions at the 2026 Asian Games.
Carlos Yulo has already delivered two gold medals. EJ Obiena defended his pole vault title in record-breaking fashion. Gilas Pilipinas Women reached the 3×3 podium. Philippine athletes have also won medals in MMA, karate, esports, sepak takraw, weightlifting, soft tennis, surfing and athletics.
And perhaps the most interesting part?
The Philippines has already matched its total medal haul from the previous Asian Games — with several days of competition still remaining.
Now the question is how much further Team Philippines can go.
