One of the best adventures anyone could experience in the Visayas region is to travel and experience the two beautiful provinces of Cebu and Bohol.
I was able to experience that way back in 2016 when I joined a press trip organized by the Tourism Promotions Board of DOT in these two provinces. I was with international bloggers from the US, UK, Canada, and India and it was an awesome experience not only to meet these content creators but also to be able to travel the Philippines and promote the country with my fellow bloggers. You know whenever they have questions, I was always there to listen and help them with their concerns.
We explored the best of Bohol like the beaches of Panglao, Loboc river and of course, Chocolate Hills and then we traveled to Cebu via a fast craft and explored the islands within the Mactan area and its nearby islands.
It was an awesome experience, so if anyone asks me if they have enough days to explore Cebu, I highly suggest that they also visit the nearby province of Bohol, since it is only about more than an hour of travel via ferry going to Tagbilaran, Bohol’s capital.

OceanJet is a popular ferry service that offers fast craft in different locations and islands, specifically in the Visayas. At the beginning of 2022, they have 13 trips daily from Cebu to Tagbilaran and 12 trips from Tagbilaran going to Cebu. Well, those are enough trips for passengers not to wait that long for the next trip. This huge number of services is also an indication that the route between Cebu and Bohol via ferry is being patronized by a lot of passengers and travelers.
The first trip from Cebu is at 5:10 AM, and in Tagbilaran, the first ferry to depart there is at 6:00 AM. The last trip from Cebu is at 6:40 PM, while at Tagbilaran port, take note that the last trip is at 6:30 PM. The estimated travel time from Cebu to Tagbilaran (vice versa) is 2 hours.

Island Water Ferry – Cebu to Tagbilaran
This is the newest ferry service to enter the transport industry in Visayas just recently. They’ve inaugurated their trips from Cebu to Tagbilaran early this year. Currently, they have 4 trips from Cebu to Tagbilaran and another 4 trips going back. The estimated travel time of Island Water Ferry between Cebu to Tagbilaran is 2 to 2 and a half hours. Here are the schedule.
Cebu to Tagbilaran
7:15 AM, 7:45 AM, 1:45 PM, 2:30 PM
Tagbilaran to Cebu
10:45 AM, 11:15 AM, 5:15 PM, 5:30 PM
Island Water Ferry – Fare depends if you’re going to have Premium Economy and Business. Premium Economy is Php 475 and Business Class is Php 675. You can also avail the student and senior citizen’s discounts as long as you provide the necessary identification.
Lite Ferries – Cebu to Tagbilaran, Bohol
Lite Ferries Shipping is a RORO carrier which means that they can transport not only passengers but also vehicles. This line operates in the Visayas and Mindanao. Currently, Lite Ferry has a total of 6 trips between Cebu and Tagbilaran. Since this is Roro, it is slower than the usual fast craft, so the travel time is about 4 and a half hours.
