Dapa Island, the first island to explore in our Burias, Masbate Island Hopping Experience. Our tour coordinator mentioned that this is sometimes called as Snake Island because of its naturally shaped cave and rocks which are believed to be the home of some sea snakes. Yikes!
It was about two-hour boat ride from our jump-off at San Andres port. The island has a different appeal, not the usual island paradise that we all think of. It has narrow shores with rugged features and rock formations. But once we got closer, we all agreed that the best about this island is its clear turquoise water.
We settled below some cave-like rocks for a while to prepare our cameras and clothes. Eloi also changed her clothes there. I noticed there were small holes on some rocks. I shrugged off the idea that lurking in my mind that time, that maybe that’s where the snakes come out when they want to look for prey. Haha!
I really tried my best not to entertain that! Well, moving one, the first thing we did was to walk along the shore and some rock formations.

Trip to this island isn’t complete without climbing the top of its huge rock. Be careful since the rocks can be very rough. After some help from some friends and the bangkeros, we were able to reach the top and enjoy its view.
Wow! Looking at the vast sea and feeling the relaxing breeze on top made our experience extra special. Be sure to walk through and explore more, it was also the perfect chance for some awesome photo ops.

The heat of the sun can be very unforgiving so protect your skin with sunblock.
It was already late in the afternoon when we realized it was about time to go back to the boat. I remember our tour coordinator telling me that sea snakes usually go out during late afternoon. LOL! I don’t know if she was telling the truth or it was just her way of making us follow the schedule. LOL!
I think we have explored the island more than expected. We left the island to go to Sombrero Island where we planned to spend the night.
Dapa Island was just a glimpse. It was like a grand opening number of an amazing performance that we were about to experience. A spectacle that is called Masbate.

How to get to Dapa Island (Burias Island)
Via Pasacao Port
From Manila, travel by bus to Naga City . From Naga, ride a jeepney going to Pasacao Port. Jeepneys can be found at the Naga City terminal. There are 3 daily boat trips from Pasacao Port going to San Pascual town. At San Pascual, you can rent boats for the island hopping.
Via San Andres Port, Quezon
Superlines have direct trips to San Andres. Once you get to San Andres, ride a tricycle to San Andres port. You may ask around and rent a boat for an island hopping experience.
Via Tour Operators
For a less hassle trip, you may also avail of travel agencies that offer Burias Island plus Alibijaban tour!
