Kanaway Beach is in Jomalig, an island municipality in Quezon province which is about 139 km. southeast of the Polillo Group of Islands. This is the farthest municipality of Quezon with more than 7,000 population.
Although, Jomalig is pretty far with more than 5 hours boat ride from Real, Quezon, this is still one of the preferred travel destinations among backpackers and adventurers with its golden sand beaches and peaceful beauty of nature.
Kanaway beach is one of the main attractions to explore once you avail of the habal-habal tour in Jomalig. This is a must-activity once you visit the island. Although the island’s main beach which is Salibungot is pristine enough to give you the best beach getaway, there are still many to explore on the island, and one of these is Kanaway beach. You’ll find some of the best golden sand beaches and rock formations in Kanaway, so you better not miss this place. Other spots to visit in the habal-habal tour in Jomalig are Little Boracay, Little Batanes, Salibungot Beach, Golden San Beach, Puno ng Walang Forever, and others. Where is Kanaway Beach?
You’ll reach and experience Kanaway beach by availing the habal-habal tour in Jomalig which costs 600 pesos per person. As for us, our motorcycle driver decided to go to Kanaway first because this is the farthest spot in the entire tour. It was a nice strategy to explore the farthest first, then visit each destinations one by one, going back.
Kanaway island is in Sitio Petisan in Barangay Apad in Jomalig. This is the easternmost side of Jomalig island facing the Pacific Ocean.

It was our first destination in the habal-habal tour. Kuya Victor, my motorcycle driver had a good strategy. Explore the farthest first, which is Kanaway beach, then visit other spots one by one.
Kanaway has a vast golden sand beach with natural ripple formation. It was not only pleasing to the eyes but even more irresistible not to explore and walk on. The beach is calm and peaceful. We were the only people there at that time, which is a nice opportunity to do some photoshoots and own the place for a while. LOL.
It has even more beautiful rock formations. It’s everywhere, but there is one noticeable rock formation in the middle perfect for photoshoots. We had lots of photos there.

The strength of the place is its raw beauty and the serenity that it gives to every traveler. Jomalig is a pretty far destination, and only those who are willing to endure the 5 to 6-hour boat ride can enjoy this amazing beauty of nature, which explains the tranquility of the place. There’s not much tourist there, so you can have quality time with your loved ones as well as to enjoy the beach, think and ponder.
The beach and the waters are calm because of the rock formations (probably corals) like a hundred meters from the shore, keeps the waves generally peaceful as it protects the shore from waves.
A few hundred meters from the beach are some islets that anyone can explore even by foot when low tide. Two of the known islets there are Pulo and Manlabat islets.
It is recommended to explore Kanaway beach early morning to experience its magnificent sunrise. Kanaway is probably one of the most beautiful beaches and spots to explore in the raw and beautiful island of Jomalig.

How to get to Kanaway beach, Jomalig
The most popular way of going to Jomalig from Manila is by talking the bus at Raymond Bus Terminal is Legarda, Manila. The bus is bound to Infanta but you have to alight at Real, Quezon. Once you arrived at the drop-off point, take a tricycle going to Ungos Port. From there, take the boat bound to Jomalig, which will take about 5 to 6 hours.
