In a significant development for air travel, Philippine Airlines (PAL) has joined forces with American Airlines to launch a groundbreaking codeshare partnership. This collaboration marks a major step forward in enhancing connectivity between the Philippines and the United States, offering passengers more travel options and streamlined services.
For the first time, a Philippine carrier will market flights to several U.S. destinations. Under the new partnership, Philippine Airlines has placed its “PR” code on various American Airlines flights. These include routes from Los Angeles to seven major U.S. cities: Atlanta, Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Miami, Orlando, and Washington, D.C. This initiative complements PAL’s robust trans-Pacific service, further bridging the gap between the two nations.
Eric David Anderson, PAL’s Chief Commercial Officer, expressed excitement about the partnership. He noted that it perfectly aligns with PAL’s strategy to expand its global reach, thus offering more diverse travel options between Asia and the United States. This sentiment was echoed by Anmol Bhargava, American’s Vice President of Global Alliances and Partnerships, who highlighted the seamless connections this partnership offers to Manila and Cebu. Bhargava also recognized the Philippines as a burgeoning economic powerhouse in Asia.
The partnership extends to American Airlines’ customers as well, who can now book tickets for codeshare flights operated by Philippine Airlines to Manila and Cebu via Tokyo. This includes flights from Honolulu and Guam to Manila, further enhancing the network.

Philippine Airlines currently operates a comprehensive service to the U.S., including twice-daily nonstop flights to Los Angeles, daily flights to San Francisco, and multiple weekly flights to New York, Honolulu, and Guam.
