The Daily Blog Project Begins

Blogging has really changed over the years. Now that short videos have taken over the internet, written content like personal blogs has slowly gone down the drain. Personal blogging simply doesn’t get the same attention it used to.

And with all the Google updates over the past few years, it has become even harder for personal bloggers, writers, and website owners to get traffic from search engines. These days, Google seems to prioritize big media outlets more than independent writers.

So after all these changes, what’s left for us bloggers and site owners? Clearly, our traffic and readership have diminished significantly, but we’re still here.

In my case, I had to look for a regular job just to survive, but I realized that my love for writing and sharing travel stories never really disappeared. So now, I’m launching this personal project: The Daily Blog.

This is where I’ll finally share the personal travels and stories that I wasn’t able to publish before. Back then, I avoided writing personal stories because they weren’t generating enough traffic or readers. I became too focused on SEO-type articles and writing content based on what people searched for online.

But now, because of all these recent changes, search traffic doesn’t feel as important to me anymore. I’ve already moved on from chasing numbers and page views. I already have a regular job, so I know I’ll be okay. What I really need now is to write again and feel alive doing it.

After spending the past few years trying to survive in the online world and figure out how to make money from it, I realized I just want to go back to writing because it genuinely makes me happy. I’ve been working so hard these past couple of years that I almost forgot writing was really my first love. Writing and sharing stories.

So here I am, starting again.

This time, my writing feels more relaxed, honest, and raw. Unlike before, writing used to feel like a task because of the pressure to create something spectacular or overly journalistic. Haha! Now, there’s no more pressure like that. I just want to sit down, write again, and go with the flow. I’m no longer too worried about whether my writing is excellent or not. This time, I just want simplicity and authenticity.

For the first travel story in this project, I’ll begin with my Thailand series from the time I solo-backpacked across Bangkok and Chiang Mai for two weeks. That trip gave me so many unforgettable memories. I met amazing fellow travelers, and the whole experience truly changed me for the better. Solo travel is something I hope to continue doing as I grow older.

So here it is, the very first post for this project. Tomorrow, I’ll publish my official first story as I begin sharing my solo adventures in Thailand.

*A new Daily Blog story is published every day at 6:00 AM Philippine time.
