Activities You Can Do for Free in Vancouver

One thing that might frighten you a little if you’ve just moved into one of the Vancouver homes for sale is the idea of spending a lot of money immediately. After all, you probably put a decent down payment on your house and are just getting used to the new mortgage payments.

It’s a lot for a mind to think about. Plus, if you’re still not sure how this change will affect your finances in the long term, it’s probably wise to cut back a little and take stock.

At the same time, you can’t just put your life on hold because you bought a new house. That’s not really living. That’s existing. So, to get around this, may we suggest some free activities in your newly chosen city of Vancouver?

Vancouver has been ranked one of the happiest cities in the world, and that’s for many reasons, but for one thing: citizens there get a lot of fun activities to engage in at no charge.

Let’s get into three of these now!

Hang Out in Stanley Park

No happy city is truly happy unless it has some outdoor green areas where people can forget about the bustle and get in tune with nature. For Vancouver, that space is Stanley Park, the largest urban park in the city and perhaps the most frequented by residents.

Stanley Park pretty much has it all: rainforests, walking trails, beaches, gardens, monuments, and trees, trees, trees. It’s a giant place that you can visit each day while never seeing the same thing twice. If you’re looking for free stuff to do in Vancouver, don’t pass up Stanley Park.

Visit Kitsilano Beach

Not far from Vancouver’s downtown is Kitsilano Beach, one of the most popular in the city. And it’s easy to see why.

First, you can get there by car, bike, or public transit. Then, the beach offers up something for everyone. You want to play some beach volleyball on the sand? Go right ahead. Prefer to sit on the grass and watch everything going on? Or play some basketball or tennis in the free courts? You have those options, too.

These things, combined with the magnificent cityscape views and sunsets from the beach, make Kitsilano Beach one place not to miss.

Walk the Seaside Greenway

Finally, we have Vancouver’s famous Seaside Greenway, the 28-kilometer-long pathway that’s safe for all kinds of people, from walkers to joggers to bikers. The Greenway goes from Vancouver’s Convention Centre, through the Seawall in Stanley Park, all the way to Granville Island.

Along the way, you can find fantastic views of the marinas, the water, the city, park areas, natural beauties, and so much more. If you’re looking to spend an entire day, or a good part of one, just wandering along a safe and continuous path, then the Seaside Greenway is exactly what you want.

So you see? All this stuff is free to do in Vancouver. You can have some great times out and not spend a single dollar to enjoy them. What are you waiting for? Get out there and live it up!
