I had the pleasure of visiting Burgos Wind Farm in 2019, and I was equally excited when I returned this year for the Ilocos Tour organized by the DOT Region 1 Office and Cebu Pacific. Reflecting on my previous experience at Burgos Wind Farm filled me with anticipation for the return visit.
We had just finished exploring Cape Bojeador that afternoon, and our final stop was Burgos Wind Farm. It was the perfect time to catch the sunset, famous as one of the best views in the province. Arriving in the late afternoon gave us ample time to explore the area and capture the scenery through photos.
Like my fellow travel bloggers, I wasted no time snapping photos against the stunning backdrop. But before we talk more about my experiences at Burgos Wind Farm, let’s check some important information about this destination.

About Burgos Wind Farm
Burgos Wind Farm stands as a prime example of sustainable energy. Developed by EDC Burgos Wind Power Corporation in Ilocos Norte, it spans three barangays in Burgos and is the largest wind farm in the Philippines.
The wind farm generates enough electricity for approximately 370,000 homes annually and helps prevent around 200,000 tons of CO₂ pollution each year. This contribution is crucial for environmental protection and combating climate change.
In 2015, the project was recognized by winning the 2015 Asia Power Engineering International Best Renewable Energy Project award. This recognition underscores the success and safety record of the Burgos Wind Farm project. Covering an area of about 686 hectares, the wind farm highlights the land requirements of large-scale renewable energy projects.
Burgos Wind Farm Experience
The ultimate joy at Burgos Wind Farm lies in embracing the breathtaking views of the rugged terrain, vast ocean, and the presence of the 50 gigantic turbines. During our visit, we enjoyed capturing stunning photos on the right side of the property, facing the ocean. We took numerous group photos, yet I also seized the chance for a solo shot in the area.
As the sun began to set, we made our way to the other side to witness the spectacle. It was a moment of serenity and awe while admiring the vibrant colors painting the sky. Taking our time to appreciate the beauty of nature, we captured these unforgettable moments. That was a pretty dramatic sunset indeed.
Returning to Burgos Wind Farm was another unforgettable experience. Not only did we enjoy the stunning surroundings as visitors or tourists, but we also gained insight into the sustainable energy efforts driving the farm. It was a journey of learning and enjoyment, leaving us with lasting memories to cherish.

How to Get to Burgos Wind Farm
Travelers have several transportation options to reach Burgos Wind Farm from Laoag International Airport.
1. Public Transport – There are buses from terminals in Laoag City going to Burgos.
Once you arrive in Burgos, you can hire tricycles or habal-habal (motorcycle taxis) from the city center to reach Burgos Wind Farm.
2. Taxi – A taxi ride or van rental can also be an option from the airport to Burgos typically takes around an hour. It’s more convenient and direct access to Burgos Wind Farm, but of course, it’s a lot more expensive.
3. Group Tours from Manila or Baguio – By just checking social media, tons of travel agencies offer group tours in Ilocos, and one of their destinations is the Burgos Wind Farm. Just check out social media and choose the best tours for you. Make sure to hire reliable ones by checking their reviews or consulting other travelers.
