During the recent birthday of RV, my nephew, a few days ago, of course, we all decided to celebrate at Shakey’s. And this time, I also decided to blog about it. This will be my first time writing about our experience with Shakey’s and the first time to share photos of my nephews, niece, my folks, and the rest of the gang on the blog.
We head on to the branch near us which is the Shakey’s Monterey Branch in Gen. Trias, Cavite. Once we arrived we immediately ordered their famous family meal – The Ultimate 2020 Meet up Meal Deal!

For only Php 2,020, this comes with 2 Large Thin Crust Pizza, 10 pieces of Chicken N Mojos, 1 Family Tuna Caesar Salad, 2 Pasta Platters, 1 Pitcher of Iced Tea, 1 Pitcher of Soda, Mozzarella Sticks, a free SuperCard and 450 worth of gift vouchers. All good for 10 persons and we were only 7. By the way, I also ordered 10 additional cups of rice. Hahaha!

The thing is we’ve been eating at Shakey’s for a long time and we kept coming back. For the first time, I had to answer this question since I decided to blog about Shakey’s after all these years.
Great food is never a question. Shakey’s has the best thin-crust pizza with delicious chicken and pasta. And did I mention that Mojos is my favorite? I think more than the food quality, it is really the bonding and memories that we’ve created with Shakey’s over the years that we wanted to create and build more, that’s why we keep coming back.
Digging deeper into the family fun brand that Shakey’s has built in the country, it is important that I also do a quick research about the restaurants’ history.

Although Shakey’s is a much popular restaurant in the Philippines than in the US, the restaurant actually started as a beer joint in America. The earnings from selling beer, made possible for founders to purchase ovens and develop their own brand of pizza. Founded by Sherwin “Shakey” Johnson and Ed Plummer in Sacramento, California in 1954, Shakey’s eventually expanded more in California and across America.
In 1975, Shakey’s opened its first store in the Philippines. During those early years, Shakey’s was known more as a beer joint. Being owned by San Miguel Corporation at that time, Shakey’s was initially introduced to the Philippines to promote its beer products together with pizza and chicken.
After numerous changes of ownership, it was in 2003 when Shakey’s focused on the image and brand that we all know now – a pizza place where family fun takes place. Shakey’s consistency with its branding after the facelift works well as it really becomes the place where family gatherings and celebrations take place. And that brand positioning is what makes Shakey’s irresistible to every family and barkada.

I like having the option to choose which pizza to have in the Shakey’s promo. Ever since, this is the only thing that changes whenever we dine at Shakey’s, others like Pasta Platters, Salad, chicken, and Mojos are all the same – but we don’t complain about it. We just love eating the same taste and goodness that we used to. Shakey’s menu continuously attracts more families and patrons fueled by its bundle offerings for large groups.
After our dinner, we were so full that we needed to do something more Hahaha! so I asked my niece and nephew to take their photos. Soon enough, there goes my mother, sister and the entire group joined the photo session.

One thing that is so good about Shakey’s is the staff’s warmth and ready to serve mentality. When they saw us, someone volunteered to take our group photo. Good thing that happened, because I finally got myself included in our family pictures. You know the struggle when you’re the official family photographer, right?
In the end, my nephew was happy for our celebration. Happy birthday, RV! These moments are something my nephew will remember for many years. Of course, I expect more special occasions to be celebrated with Shakey’s. Thanks for an awesome family bonding!
