After turning left from the main road, it was another couple of kilometers of paved and bumpy roads until reaching Bulawan Falls in Dinalungan, Aurora.
It was the first destination of our trip to Aurora. We were about to explore Casiguran, but on our way, we made a short stop at Dinalungan for our quick breakfast and visit Bulawan Falls.
With parking space, comfort rooms and all, it seems that the place has enough facilities ready to accommodate many tourists. I’d be honest, this is my first time to learn about this falls in Aurora. Yeah, I know that I’ve been to the province just recently, and good thing I came back to be able to explore more. True enough, there is more to Aurora than Baler and surfing.

Our Experience at Bulawan Falls
We passed through this huge signage and followed this pathway. There are also some cottages for rent for families and group of friends.
Some from our group went straight to the main falls, but for us, we wanted to experience all that this beauty of nature could offer. It turned out that this has this series of small waterfalls before reaching the big one. With lush forest around us and the noticeable clear waters, we couldn’t help but enjoy, admire the place and take some photos.
Be careful with your steps on the stairway that leads to the falls, as this can be slippery at times.
There is a viewing deck for everyone to enjoy, and on the right side is a bridge that enables tourists to cross to the other side of Bulawan Falls. The view from the deck and the bridge are enough for you to get a relaxing spot to just chill and listen to the gushing sounds of the waterfalls.
You can get closer by going down from the view deck or crossing the bridge. We did all of that to get that close look at the falls and of course to take some photos. We were lucky that one from our group, Ron, offered to take a photo of us together.
Eloi admits that the beach is her natural element and not pretty much about waterfalls but after that quick trip to Bulawan, I could see that she enjoyed it.
It rained that morning but the waterfalls is still clear. After further research, I learned that Bulawan was once awarded as the “cleanest inland body of water in the region” and that explains why.
I also got the chance to chat with some people near the area and they said that Bulawan Falls can be pretty crowded during Holy week and summer. And that made me think that Bulawan is actually a popular summer destination among locals and nearby provinces, so it is my bad that I wasn’t aware of this falls before.
But it’s never too late, at least now I’ve visited Bulawan Falls and I understood why many tourists visit this place. We had a great time. For me, Bulawan Falls was like a prelude, an opening salvo to a grand spectacle of adventure that awaits us in Aurora for the next couple of days.

How to get to Bulawan Falls?
Bulawan Falls is located in Dinalungan, Aurora. On our way to Casiguaran, passing through the Baler-Casiguran Road, there is signage to turn left to Bulawan Falls. After that, it’s still about roughly a couple of kilometer drive going to Bulawan.
The waterfalls is also near the Dinalungan Municipal Hall which is about 6 kilometers. It is better if travelers will get in touch with the Tourism Office of Dinalungan to get assistance in going to Bulawan Falls, especially if your trip is DIY. It is just a tricycle away from municipal hall going to Bulawan Falls.
If you’re going from Manila, it will pass through Dinalungan going to Casiguran. There are bus companies in Manila that have direct trips to Casiguran. You can also do it via Baler, and it’s just a van ride going to Dinalungan.

There are some tour operators or group travels to Aurora which include Bulawan Falls as a quick stop.
