REVIEW: Fairways and Bluewater Boracay Resort

When I booked my flight to Boracay, I really intended to stay at 3 hotels something like a luxury, mid-range, and a hostel. As a travel blogger, it’s much better to experience more accommodation so I can write more content as well as have a better perspective on my overall stay.

So on this trip, I decided to book at Fairways and Bluewater Boracay for 3 days, and the rest of my 11 days were spent on other more affordable hotels. My reason for booking at Fairways? I got a nice deal from Agoda. Hahaha! Yeah, I have to be honest. I had actually booked it before making any research about Fairways. Deals and discounts are just too irresistible. LOL!

When I finally did my research, I was blown away. So Fairways is actually an award-winning beach resort! It’s an 80-hectare property with luxurious amenities, a golf course, and a private beach! I became even more excited about my trip.

I had an early flight to Boracay, so when I arrive on the island, I decided to go straight to Fairways Boracay. I realized that since it’s a big property, maybe I’d have something to do there while waiting for my check-in time.

Since it was my first day in Boracay, I wasn’t familiar yet with the E-Trike and all so I decided to ride the habal-habal (motorcycle) instead. It was more expensive than public transportation, but it’s okay because it’s more convenient and way faster.

Once I arrived at the Fairway’s main gate, I was welcomed by the warm smile of the staff and security personnel. Oh, this is how you do customer service, right? I waited for a few minutes for the shuttle to take me to the main lobby.

The property is huge. It has numerous buildings and structures with a golf course. I noticed that there were some facilities that were under maintenance. The resort was also affected by the recent global pandemic some facilities were not yet fully operational.

Once I arrived at the main lobby, I was once again greeted with a smile. This time by the receptionist. I must say that the resort’s management has really trained its staff well in customer experience.

The receptionist assisted me well. She was so genuine that she even showed concern and compassion (compassion talaga? LOL!) when she learned that I was traveling solo. I get it the resort is popular among couples and families. Everywhere I go I see families having a great time and couples enjoying each other’s company. So I guess it’s rare for them to have a solo guest at their luxurious resort. LOL!

I knew that I had to wait longer because my check-in was at 2 PM. The receptionist said that they sometimes allow early check-in if the room is ready but this time, I really had to wait until the check-in time which I understand.

I waited in the lobby while I read the book that I brought with me for this trip.

When it was about lunchtime, I decided to maybe explore the beach or eat lunch. Good thing they allow their guests to secure their bags in a room when they go out. I was thinking of going to the beach but I was already starving.

Mang Inasal at CityMall Boracay

Since I didn’t know much about the resort yet, I decided to go out of the resort and look for anything to eat. Lo and behold, I saw the CityMall Boracay just outside the resort! Imagine the convenience of having a mall near the resort. I had more food options which was great!

So I ate at Mang Inasal. Huh? Pumunta ng Boracay para mag- Mang Inasal? Hahaha, Wait. That was for that day only. I had no other options. Trust me, I tried a lot of restaurants in Boracay during my stay.

The Rooms

So I went back at around 1 PM. I just waited for a few more minutes, when I was approached by the receptionist telling me that my room was ready.

Hmm. I’m quite impressed with my room. It’s spacious, with 2 Queen size beds. The bathroom was also clean and convenient. The best part is the view – the lush green scenery of trees and the golf course.

I then realized that the room was actually different from what I expected. So, I checked with the receptionist at the lobby and they confirmed that they upgraded me from a Superior to a Premier room. Wow! That was really nice of them!

Then, I made my research about the rooms. I can only maximize the benefits of the upgrade if I’m with my family and friends. Since I’m alone, technically there’s not much of a difference between Superior to Premier rooms aside from the 2 Queen size beds. But I appreciated the gesture.

The Buffet Breakfast and Restaurants

Of course, I know that this is something that you’ve been waiting for. Just to answer your question, yes the buffet breakfast of Fairways and Bluewater was worth it. Sulit!

Breakfast is available from 6 AM to 10 AM. I woke up pretty early the next morning probably because of my excitement. Haha! I love breakfast dishes like longganisa, tocino and tapa. What’s more if it’s buffet!

I was at Monterey Cafe before 7 AM, and I was surprised that there were quite a lot of guests already. There are 3 main sections – the main menu, the bread section, and the fruits/salad section. That morning, they served tapa, sausages, egg omelets, pancit, and pancakes. The staff was even kind enough to offer me some sunny side up and bacon too.

Of course, I ate quite a lot because I was hungry. I liked eating my garlic rice, tapa, and sausages while sipping my strong brewed coffee.

I ended my breakfast with a delicious salad. It’s nice to know that I was able to eat healthy food after all that I had consumed that morning. The breakfast truly prepared me for an awesome day of walking along the beach that afternoon.

Fairways and Bluewater has tons of restaurants for their guests although some are not yet fully operational due to the effects of the pandemic. But they had quite a lot of options when I was there. There were actively promoting Kudetah District, a bar with an awesome view and vibe.

The Beach

This is one of the highlights of staying at Fairways – the private beach. Yes, they have a private beach for their guests. So if you’re longing for peace and serenity, this is probably for you.

It has been my routine during my stay to go to the beach every afternoon. I just walked along its white sand and let my mind wander. Senti sentihan. Ganyan. LOL! I had no choice, I was alone but definitely not lonely. Ganern. LOL!

I liked the beach. It’s peaceful and there’s just few people there, so you can have your needed “me time.” Plus, they also have an infinity pool with a specular view of the beach. They also have a bar there but it was still non-operational due to maintenance.

The beach is also a walking distance to the famous Boracay Keyhole. It’s the newest attraction in Boracay. I was able to visit the spot on my last day at the resort by just walking along the beach until reaching the road that leads to the spot.

The Golf Course and other amenities

If you like playing golf, the resort has an 18-hole championship golf course complete with amenities like locker rooms, pro shop, club rentals, and more. Worry not if you’re a beginner because you can always expect assistance from well-experienced golf professionals.

Aside from that, there are many activities that you can try on the beach like horseback riding and other watersports.

Conclusion

I truly enjoyed my stay at Fairways and Bluewater. Although I’m a solo traveler, I was able to experience the serenity that I really needed from this trip. I enjoyed my “me time” doing my afternoon walks at the beach. I was able to ponder on a lot of things about my personal struggles, relationships, and the future.

The location of the resort is quite far from the island’s main attraction – the white beach, but it’s okay because it’s very convenient to go there. It’s just one E-Trike ride away to white beach.

I can attest that this resort is perfect for friends and families from the rooms, the food, and the activities. Honestly, I’m happy to see lots of friends and lovers enjoying their stay at Fairways. It’s peaceful, private, and comfortable. I hope I could bring my family here soon, or maybe I would have my special someone also when I get back. Awww harot. Hahaha!

Overall, it was an awesome stay and experience. I also commend the customer service of the staff. They really made the guests’ stay extra special. I hope to be back at Fairways soon.
