HOTEL LUNA: Vigan’s Premier Museum Hotel (Review & Experience)

If you find yourself in Vigan and yearning for a hotel that embodies the city’s rich heritage and history, look no further than Hotel Luna.

I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Luna a few years back, and it left a lasting impression. So, when I discovered that I would be returning to this hotel during my recent trip to Ilocos, organized by DOT Region 1 and Cebu Pacific, I was thrilled.

During my previous stay in 2019, I lodged in the main building of Hotel Luna, which exudes the ambiance of the old Spanish era. This time, however, I had the opportunity to experience the more modern accommodations located in the courtyard. Despite the contemporary upgrade, the rooms still retained the essence of Spanish colonial architecture, with modern conveniences. Hotel Luna’s prime location in the heart of Vigan’s heritage city, near the renowned Calle Crisologo, only adds to its allure.

The Room

With a total of 70 rooms and suites, Hotel Luna offers a variety of accommodations. My fellow travel blogger and I stayed in a Double Queen Deluxe Room, blending classic elements with contemporary design. Despite its old-world charm, the room has modern amenities, making our stay comfortable and enjoyable.

One standout feature was the state-of-the-art toilet, reminiscent of Japanese innovation. A simple button press initiated the automatic release of water, drying, and flushing – an unexpected yet delightful addition to the charm of Hotel Luna. CHECK ROOM RATES HERE

The Food and Restaurant

Our dining experience at Comedor, the hotel’s main restaurant, was also a highlight of our stay. After a day of exploring Vigan’s treasures, we indulged in a delectable spread of Filipino and Japanese cuisine. Whether it was the evening’s theme or simply the culinary expertise of the chefs, the Japanese dishes stood out. Also, the fresh salads provided a refreshing take to the hearty main courses.

Breakfast at Comedor offered an array of dishes, from tapa to longganisa, bangus, and corned beef. Of course, no meal was complete without a plate of crisp, refreshing salad.

Hotel Luna offers more than just dining options; it boasts a rooftop bar, Azotea, and a cozy coffee shop, Chula, catering to guests’ varied preferences.

The First Museum Hotel

Hotel Luna proudly holds the distinction of being the first museum hotel in the Philippines. Its halls are adorned with masterpieces by renowned Filipino painters, including Juan Luna and Ben Cab. Among the highlights is Luna’s masterpiece, La Mandolinera, featuring a captivating female mandolin player.

In addition to paintings, the hotel features an eclectic collection of contemporary artworks, adding to its cultural charm.

Amenities & Swimming Pool

Located within the hotel’s courtyard is a swimming pool – a perfect respite after a day of exploration. Though I didn’t have the opportunity to take a dip during my visit, I know that when I come down I’d surely not this that. Hotel Luna offers reliable Wi-Fi and round-the-clock assistance from its staff, ensuring a seamless and comfortable experience for guests.

In conclusion, my stay at Hotel Luna was nothing short of delightful. Its seamless blend of old-world charm and modern amenities offers a unique experience. For anyone with an appreciation for history and heritage, Hotel Luna is a must-visit destination in Vigan.
