Process to Access Your Digital National ID
Registered individuals can now easily obtain their digital National ID by following these simple steps:
- Visit https://national-id.gov.ph/.
2. Fill out the required form with your full name and date of birth.
3. Take a live selfie using your device’s camera for identity verification. Make sure you have good lighting and avoid wearing caps or sunglasses to ensure clear facial recognition.
Enhanced Security and Authentication
The digital National ID offers reliable and secure proof of identity that can be authenticated on any device. According to PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa, this new system ensures that identity verification is both safe and convenient, providing a modern solution for various identification needs.
Background and Progress
Previously, digital National IDs were only issued by PhilSys Registration Centers. Since 2022, a digital-to-print version has been available as an alternative due to delays in delivering physical IDs. As of April, 50 million out of the targeted 87 million National IDs have been delivered. However, 37 million Filipinos are still waiting for their IDs, with some experiencing delays of years instead of the initially promised six months.
Additional Verification Tools
To further support the use of the digital National ID, the PSA has introduced the National ID Check and National ID eVerify systems, available at everify.gov.ph. These tools allow employers, companies, and government agencies to verify the authenticity of the National ID, enhancing the overall security and trust in the system.
Potential Server Issues
Due to the high demand following the launch of the digital National ID, the PSA server may experience occasional downtime. Users are encouraged to try accessing their digital ID again later if they encounter any issues.
By making the digital National ID easily accessible online, the Philippines is taking a significant step towards modernizing its identification system, providing citizens with a more efficient way to prove their identity for various purposes.
