After a day of exploring Ilocos Norte, it was time to check into our hotel finally. We would spend the night in Laoag because of an early flight the next day. And I must say, we stayed in one of the best hotels in Laoag – The Java Hotel.
At first, I couldn’t see the facade of the hotel easily because of the gas station in front, but once I got out of the van, I finally appreciated the beauty of Java Hotel. Its Balinese-inspired design with a nipa hut on top of the structure was very tropical and charming.
It was already night when we arrived, so the staff prioritized our check-in to ensure we could rest well. Although we still had dinner in an hour, it would be nice to take a bath first, especially after exploring the province the whole day.

The Room
We were exhausted from a day of exploring Ilocos, so it was nice to have a spacious and comfortable bed to rest in.
My roommate, Marky, and I were assigned a Double Twin Room with a spacious bed and bathroom. It had two double beds, cable TV, a mini-bar, coffee, and internet access. The bathroom was also comfortable and clean. I decided to take a bath first, as we still had dinner scheduled at the hotel’s restaurant in about an hour.
In addition to this room, Java Hotel also offers Standard Rooms, Classic Twins, and Suites, providing more options depending on the size of your group. It’s also perfect for solo travelers and couples.
The Food
It was time for dinner. The Eagle’s Nest Bar and Restaurant is the in-house restaurant of the hotel. We went there to have dinner and also to meet the representatives of Cebu Pacific. This tour was organized by DOT Region 1 and Cebu Pacific. We met the marketing team of the airline and they gave a short presentation about Cebu Pacific services, especially the Manila-Laoag route.
Then, it was time for the buffet of Filipino and Ilocano dishes. I tried all the dishes and also enjoyed the drinks at the end. We surely enjoyed the food as well as the relaxing Asian-inspired ambiance of the restaurant.
The Amenities
The Java Hotel offers a lot of amenities for its guests. If you want to take a dip in a relaxing swimming pool after touring Ilocos, you can do that. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to try it since we arrived at the hotel late. But if I come back, I’ll definitely not miss the opportunity.
For fitness buffs, they also have a gym and a tennis court.
They can also accommodate events and celebrations with their Venetian and Majestic Halls. Of course, to complete your Ilocos experience, they can also arrange your Ilocos Tours, and even a massage when you come back.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Java Hotel even though it was just overnight. We had an early morning flight to Manila that day, and the location of the hotel is just perfect – only a 10-minute ride to the airport. If I ever come back to Ilocos Norte, I’d love to stay at Java Hotel again.
