During my usual afternoon walk, I realized I’d already tried all the coffee shops in my area in Gen. Trias, Cavite. So, it was time to check out something new. That’s when I stumbled upon Big Brew at the entrance of South Square subdivision in Pasong Kawayan 2.
It appeared to be a typical café with a simple design and tables. However, once I entered, I was pleasantly surprised by their prices. It’s only P29 for a medium-sized iced coffee and P39 for a large iced coffee.
It’s so affordable, isn’t it? I’ve visited other coffee shops in my area, and so far, the cheapest large iced coffee I found was P45. Big Brew’s P39 price beats that, hands down. So, right then and there, I declared Big Brew the most affordable coffee shop in the area.
But the real question is, does it taste good?
Well, that’s for me to find out.
I walked up to the counter to check out their offerings. They offer various variants of iced coffee, milk tea, and fruit tea at the same affordable price point. They also offer whipped cream for an additional P20, which is a little pricier. Their hot coffee is priced at P35. Besides drinks, they also offer snacks like fries and siomai.
So, it was time to order. I initially wanted Kape Fudge, but unfortunately, it was unavailable, so I settled for a large Kape Spanish.
While waiting for my coffee, I looked around and noticed that most of Big Brew’s customers are residents of the subdivision and some students, likely from the nearby high school.
Once my order arrived, it was time to taste. First, I noticed that the cup was really big. For P39, I was expecting a smaller size, but no, it was indeed large.
As for the taste? Surprisingly, it was good. It was a bit sweeter than I expected, but overall, it was enjoyable. It provided a nice caffeine fix at an affordable price. For as little as P39, it was a great coffee for the afternoon.
I decided to take the coffee with me while walking back home.
If I ever crave a caffeine fix during my afternoon walk again, I’ll definitely revisit Big Brew. Perhaps I’ll try other flavors, like the Kape Fudge. Hopefully, it’ll be available when I return.
