Electric MassKara is one of the festival events I’d make a priority if you’re visiting Bacolod for the first time.
Traditional MassKara street dancing is already incredibly colorful during the day. Electric MassKara turns the celebration into a nighttime spectacle, with illuminated costumes and masks combined with music and dance.
For 2026, seven barangays have been announced for Electric MassKara: Barangays 12, 14, 17, 19, 21, Villamonte and Tangub. The event is scheduled for October 16 at The Upper East.

Lacson Tourism Strip 2026
Lacson Street remains an important part of the MassKara experience.
The Lacson Tourism Strip is scheduled from October 16 to 18, covering the festival’s biggest weekend. Different blocks will feature sponsored entertainment and activity zones. The published lineup includes areas along South Capitol Road, North Capitol Road and several sections between 6th and 22nd Streets.
Even if you don’t have a specific concert or activity planned here, walking around Lacson during MassKara weekend gives you another side of the festival: food, nightlife, crowds, music and the general feeling of Bacolod staying awake much later than usual.

Three days is the minimum I’d suggest if MassKara is the main purpose of your trip.
A simple schedule could look like this:
October 16: Arrive in Bacolod, explore the city and watch Electric MassKara.
October 17: School Street Dance and Arena Competition, food trip and evening festival events.
October 18: Barangay Street Dance and Arena Competition followed by the awarding ceremony and nighttime festivities.
Four or five days would be even better because MassKara weekends can get crowded. You also get some breathing room for a proper Bacolod food trip or a side trip around Negros Occidental.
How to Get to MassKara Festival in Bacolod
By Plane
The main gateway is Bacolod-Silay Airport, located in Silay City.
From the airport, continue by taxi, shuttle or other available land transportation to Bacolod City.
If you’re flying during MassKara weekend, don’t treat this like an ordinary October trip. Book early.
Flights around October 16–18 are naturally among the dates most likely to attract festival travelers.
From Iloilo
Another popular option is traveling by fast craft between Iloilo and Bacolod.
This makes MassKara particularly convenient for travelers already touring Western Visayas. Ferry schedules and fares can change, so check the current operator schedules close to your trip. Bacolod is accessible by both air and sea, with Iloilo-Bacolod fast craft connections among the established routes.
By Land and Sea
Travelers coming from other parts of Negros or neighboring islands can also reach Bacolod through bus and ferry combinations.
Give yourself plenty of allowance during festival week because traffic around Bacolod itself can become much heavier.

Near SM City Bacolod

You cannot come all the way to Bacolod and spend the entire trip eating inside the festival venue.

But don’t stop there.

Think comfort first.
You’re probably going to walk much more than you expect, and you could spend a long time standing while waiting for performances.

Don’t show up at exactly 2:00 PM because the competition says 2:00 PM and expect to magically find the perfect place in front.

Bring only what you actually need. A phone, power bank, water, some cash and basic personal items are usually easier to manage than a giant backpack in a dense crowd.

One of the mistakes travelers make is flying into Bacolod, watching MassKara and immediately flying home.
If you have another day, explore more of Negros Occidental.
You can visit Silay for its heritage houses or head toward Talisay to see The Ruins. Bacolod also makes a convenient base for exploring more destinations around the province.
Even one extra day changes the trip.
Instead of MassKara being the only thing you remember about Bacolod, you also get to experience the food, heritage and everyday character of the city and the surrounding province.
