After a restful night at Calawag Mountain Resort in Tibiao, we set off, traveling for about 20 minutes to our jump-off point. Trip to Seco Island
Our main vessel was a large fishing boat, spacious enough for numerous passengers. We settled into the open area, enjoying the cool sea breeze as we departed around 4:00 AM. The journey was smooth until an unexpected rain shower had us scrambling for cover. The crew quickly helped us secure a makeshift shelter, and soon, we were back to enjoying the ride.
As the rain subsided, I moved to the end of the boat where the crew and fishermen were resting atop the fishnets. There, I witnessed a breathtaking sunrise, painting the sky with hues of gold and pink – a perfect prelude to our adventure on Seco Island.
The Seco Island Experience
The first sight of Seco Island’s sandbar was thrilling. After a three-hour journey, we transferred once more via a flat wooden raft to the beach. Despite the long travel, rain, and stressful transfers, the sight of Seco Island in its full glory made it all worthwhile.
The powdery white sand and tranquil views were stunning. We eagerly took photos and videos, capturing every beautiful moment for our blogs and Instagram stories.
Once the entire team assembled, we moved to a nearby cottage to rest and prepare for the day. 1. Take a Bus or Flight to Antique
Ceres bus has trips from Manila to Antique, but you can also take a flight to Kalibo, then take a bus going to Malabor, Tibiao.
2. Once you arrive in Malabor, take a tricycle going to the Municipal Hall.
At the back of the municipal hall, you can find and arrange a boat trip going to Seco Island. Seco island is quite far from the mainland so the boat rental is not cheap. For a small boat with few people, charge may range around 1,000 pesos per person roundtrip. If you’re a bigger group, you can opt for a bigger boat in Culasi, Antique.
