Camping does not cost all that much, so you might take a camping trip this year. If you do, you can load the tent, sleeping bags, and everything else you need into the family vehicle and go visit the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona.
The canyon itself bears exploring. It’s enormous, and you and the family can hike down into it. Make sure you bring water and food and wear tough but comfortable shoes.

You can also have a picnic lunch in Agamont Park. If you still have some energy, you can visit Acadia National Park next. There, you will see beautiful beaches and plunging cliffs with multicolored rock formations.
With just one $30 vehicle pass, you can take up to 15 people into the park and stay for a week if you like. In the summer, you’ll find many tourists there, though. If you go during the off-season, you’ll see fewer people, and you can enjoy the splendor and solitude.
You might also look into Yosemite National Park or Asheville, North Carolina. They both feature some gorgeous scenery. You can enjoy a fun family trip this year without spending your mortgage or utility bill money. You can come back refreshed and rested.
