How to Get to Mayoyao, Ifugao (Travel Guide)

A few months ago, I had the privilege of visiting Mayoyao, Ifugao, and experienced the wonders this beautiful town offers. From exploring rice terraces to chasing waterfalls and immersing myself in Mayoyao’s rich culture through its food and rituals, it was a truly enriching experience.

After publishing a series of articles about Mayoyao, many readers reached out, asking for guidance on how to get there, particularly via public transportation. I’ve created this travel guide for you all to address these inquiries.

Currently, there are no direct buses or public transportation services from Manila to Mayoyao. However, there are several accessible routes via Lagawe (Ifugao), Santiago (Isabela), or Solano (Nueva Vizcaya).

From Manila or Baguio, you can take a bus or van to these destinations and find public transportation to Mayoyao. Below are the details and schedules:

Via Lagawe (Ifugao) to Mayoyao

The Oahayami bus company offers direct buses from Manila to Lagawe, Ifugao, typically departing at night around 9:30 PM, with a travel time of approximately 8 hours. Upon arrival at Lagawe Terminal, you can catch public transport to Mayoyao. Here’s the schedule.

Via Santiago City, Isabela, to Mayoyao

Bus companies such as Five Star Bus and Victory Liner operate daily trips from Manila to Santiago City, Isabela. From Santiago, you can find buses to Mayoyao.

Via Solano (Nueva Vizcaya) to Mayoyao

Five Star Bus and Victory Liner also offer daily trips from Manila to Solano. Upon arrival in Solano, head to the Petron gas station near Chowking to catch buses bound for Mayoyao.

If you’re traveling by car, navigation apps like Google Maps and Waze can provide easy directions. In our case, we traveled to Mayoyao via Banaue, Ifugao, which offered scenic views along the way.
