We traveled for about 25 minutes from the town proper of Mayoyao to reach the jump-off area of Tenogtog Falls.
TPB Philippines provided vans for the media team covering the community-based workshop in Mayoyao. However, this time, we opted to join the police mobile for the journey, as it offered a much better view of the mountains and rice terraces. Mayoyao is a peaceful place, I think the locals see us as visitors and not detainees. Haha
It’s approximately 5 kilometers from the town but is somewhat remote. Aside from vehicles, it can also be reached by walking for those who prefer to immerse themselves in nature. If I’d have a chance to go back, I think trekking would be a good idea too.
Going to Tenogtog Falls

Upon arrival at the jump-off area for Tenogtog Falls, our tour guide, Leandro, provided a brief overview of the falls we were about to explore. He explained that “Tenogtog” means “chopped” in the local Ifugao dialect. Historically, the waterfalls served as a meeting place for hunters who would chop their captured game and share the meat with others. Interesting, right?
Tenogtog Falls consists of three natural pools, each approximately 12 meters apart, with water cascading from one pool to the next. The splendor of the falls can be easily captured by taking aerial photographs with a drone. My fellow content creators took some drone shots and the photos were stunning.

Tenogtog Falls Experience
After the quick briefing, we then started to hike. It was a chill and quick walk until we reached the waterfalls’ first tier. There’s a registration area and a scenic viewing deck. Staying at the viewing deck is enough if you’re into relaxation, but as a blogger, I needed to take some variety of photos, so I descended towards the waterfalls. There, I joined my fellow bloggers, some were even flying their drones.
There are two sets of stairs, one on the left and one on the right, leading to the next tier. Since I was already near the falls, I opted for the steeper climb. But a much safer one would be the stairs connected to the viewing deck. Choose that one, okay?

The second tier features a smaller waterfall with a wider basin. Despite its size, the natural surroundings make it an ideal spot for photography. I noticed my fellow bloggers capturing photos and striking poses atop the large rocks.
Jan, a fellow blogger, kindly offered to take some pictures of me. Who am I to refuse this opportunity? He even guided me to improve my awkward poses. (Haha) The water was clear and inviting, but most of my group had already climbed up to the next one.

The third tier is undoubtedly the most stunning and tallest of all. It boasts a beautiful natural pool below, perfect for those seeking to cool off in the chilly waters.
This area also serves as a popular spot for picnics and gatherings, with numerous cottages available. We relished the breathtaking views of the waterfalls while engaging in lively conversation and eventually enjoying a delightful boodle fight lunch.
