One of the most successful international pizza chains is Pizza Hut, a name that many associate with tasty, affordable pan pizzas and pasta dishes. Despite the number of pizza chains and trendy restaurant concepts that have come and gone, Pizza Hut has endured as both a dine-in and delivery favorite.
This American chain started way back in 1958 in Wichita, Kansas. Brothers and Wichita State students Dan and Frank Carney opened the first branch in a small brick building near their childhood neighborhood. The pizza restaurant was so successful that they opened a second branch after just six months. Within a year, there were already six Pizza Hut branches.
The Carney brothers started franchising the brand in 1959, capitalizing on a traditional family-style dine-in format. Later on, the company started offering delivery options and setting up carry-out only locations. Some branches even had an “all-you-can-eat” buffet-style lunch bar, offering pizza, salad, pasta, breadsticks, and desserts.
One of its most notable products is the stuffed-crust pizza launched in 1995, which continues to be one of their most popular and profitable product lines. Today, there are over 18,000 Pizza Hut branches in over 100 countries. They continue to serve over a million pizzas a day, and Pizza Hut remains a favorite pizza parlor here in the Philippines!
