As cliché as it may sound, it’s true that we’re constantly in search of a tranquil retreat near Metro Manila. Fortunately, my blogger friends and I just recently discovered a hidden gem in Cavinti, Laguna that promises the much-needed rest and relaxation we all desperately needed.
This is Sofia’s Lake Resort, nestled along the serene shores of Lumot Lake in Cavinti, Laguna. Just a three-hour drive from Metro Manila, this resort offers an ideal escape from the relentless pace of city life, catering to individuals, groups of friends, and families too.
Setting off early in the morning, we embarked on our journey to the charming town of Cavinti. After over three hours, we finally reached the designated pickup point for the resort. A pontoon boat awaited us, ready to transport us to the shores of Sofia’s Lake Resort. The brief cruise across the lake was a soothing experience in itself. Little did we know, there were even more delights awaiting us upon arrival at the resort.
From the moment we stepped foot on the premises, the warmth and hospitality of the staff were undeniable. Their friendly greetings and welcome drinks instantly made us feel at home, providing a glimpse of the exceptional customer experience that awaited us throughout our stay.

The Private Villa
I stayed in the resort’s private villa, a spacious haven with a stunning view of the lake. The property boasts four villas, and I was fortunate to stay in Villa Number 1, known for its exceptional view. Well, there’s a reason why it holds the number one spot. Haha.
Inside the villa, there are two beds that comfortably accommodate a couple, a small family, or a group of four. Please note that an additional charge applies to four people. I shared the rates below this post.
I enjoyed the cozy table setup that offered a breathtaking view of the lake. The bathroom was also a heavenly retreat, complete with a relaxing bathtub. Every corner of the villa celebrates aesthetic design, pleasing to the senses.
Simply sitting on the private veranda, taking in the awe-inspiring view of the lake and Mt. Banahaw, provided much-needed relaxation.
In addition to the private villas, Sofia’s Lake Resort also offers other accommodation options. Glamping tents are available, perfect for two persons seeking a unique experience. For larger groups or families, a Guest House is also available. Below, you’ll find the updated rates of Sofia’s Lake Resort.

The Fun Activities
While my goal was to unwind and indulge in the resort’s incredible amenities, there came a moment when I felt a surge of adventure calling me. Well, Sofia’s Lake Resort offers an array of exciting activities to cater to every thrill-seeker.
From kayaking and paddleboarding to the exhilarating experience of riding a jet ski, there was no shortage of options to satisfy our adventurous spirits. It had been quite some time since I last tried a jet ski, so the opportunity to do so at the resort was an absolute blast.
The staff members were incredibly attentive, providing thorough assistance until I felt completely at ease navigating the jet ski on my own. Their dedication to ensuring our safety and comfort truly put my mind at ease.
Meanwhile, my fellow bloggers opted for the joys of kayaking and paddleboarding. Witnessing their laughter and enjoyment only added to the overall positive vibe.
At night, we embarked on a delightful dinner cruise, a nice way to appreciate nature’s beauty while relishing delectable cuisine in the company of great friends.
Upon our return to the resort, a mesmerizing transformation awaited us, as the property became adorned with countless lights, resembling a magical swarm of fireflies in the night sky. We concluded our day of adventure with a soothing soak in the relaxing kawa hot bath. What a great way to end the day, right?
The Food
Although full-board meals are already included in the overnight rates, it is highly recommended to indulge in the culinary delights of the resort’s in-house restaurant, Kawayan Cafe.
Upon check-in, we were treated to a delectable lunch prepared by the resort’s talented chef, Chef AC. Their menu showcases Filipino and Asian cuisines with a delightful twist. I must admit, I was so satisfied and content after our lunch that all I wanted to do was laze around in the comfort of our villa. But hey, I realized that there are still some exciting water activities in the afternoon. Exciting!
For those seeking a unique dining experience, you can also request a lunch or dinner cruise, allowing you to spend quality time with nature while creating cherished memories with your loved ones. We had the pleasure of enjoying a breathtaking sunset dinner cruise, followed by a fun-filled lunch boodle fight cruise the next day.
One of the highlights of our culinary journey was the breakfast. Picture yourself savoring a mouthwatering breakfast meal, accompanied by their heavenly Ube Champorado ( definitely a huge hit for the group), all while being treated to a stunning view of Lumot Lake.
It was an incredible way to start the day, sipping on a warm cup of coffee, immersing ourselves in the beauty of the surroundings, and enjoying the company of our fellow travelers.
