Thai AirAsia Honored for Championing Disability Inclusion in the Workplace

Bangkok, Thailand – In a significant recognition of its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, Thai AirAsia has been awarded the prestigious “Organization Promoting Employment of People with Disabilities” at the Friendly Design Awards 2023. This accolade underscores the airline’s dedication to creating an inclusive environment for all.

As the only company to receive this honor, Thai AirAsia is set to further its inclusive efforts by signing an agreement with the Friendly Design for All Foundation in 2024. This agreement will mark a significant step forward, as the airline plans to hire 56 visually impaired individuals, showcasing its commitment to providing equal employment opportunities.

Thai AirAsia’s efforts align with its inclusive philosophy, embodied in its slogan “Now Everyone Can Fly.” The airline focuses on breaking down travel barriers, ranging from cost concerns to accessibility challenges, ensuring a seamless travel experience for all passengers.

The airline’s collaboration with the Friendly Design for All Foundation, government bodies, and other agencies has been instrumental in enhancing its services for disabled passengers. Since 2016, Thai AirAsia has been proactive in employing persons with disabilities, a commitment that remained unwavering even during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In line with its support for “Universal Design,” Thai AirAsia strives to ensure that public spaces and facilities are accessible to everyone. The involvement of disabled employees in surveying and reporting on various sites is a testament to the company’s inclusive approach.

2024 will mark a new chapter for Thai AirAsia, as it prepares to welcome visually impaired staff into its workforce. The initial group of six individuals, skilled in massage and service, will be the airline’s first visually impaired employees, highlighting its commitment to diversity and equal opportunity.

Thai AirAsia’s subsidiary, Thai AirAsia X, also received acclaim at the Friendly Design Awards, being recognized in the “Organization Promoting Universal Design” category. This dual recognition for the Capital A group members emphasizes their collective dedication to fostering an environment of equality and accessibility.

As Thai AirAsia continues to soar, it sets a benchmark in the aviation industry, not just for its services, but for its unwavering commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunities for all.
