Back in the ‘90s, Racks was widely considered one of the best casual smokehouses in Metro Manila. Owner Wellington Soong – also known as the owner of Jaguar’s Philippine dealership – seemed to have the secret recipe to success with diners: tender ribs with a lip-smacking barbecue sauce. This homegrown restaurant chain claimed to serve “the best ribs in town”, and with their country-style ambience and tasty dishes, no one would say otherwise.
Still, it became difficult for Racks to sustain its high quality as it continued to expand, leading to a decline in diners. Eventually, 40 branches shrank to one in Ortigas – which was when the Prieto family, famous for running Shakey’s, Tia Maria, and Cowboy Grill, bought Racks and turned the business around. By streamlining the dishes and focusing on creating consistent flavors for beloved Racks bestsellers, the restaurant chain was slowly able to expand and once again attract customers.
By focusing on improving quality and providing a more welcoming dining experience, the Prietos were able to keep the flame-grilled spirit of Racks alive. Today, there are 18 branches where hungry tummies can once again treat themselves to a heaping serving of Racks’ signature ribs that fall off the bone!

The incredibly tender, flavorful Classic Baby Ribs come with two sides and your choice of bread, and we highly recommend getting the cornbread with this popular entrée.
