Their chocolate cake, ensaymadas, and sansrival have become sought-after additions to a dessert table, guaranteed to get those with sweet teeth clamoring for second helpings.

Established in 1999, the local bakery Purple Oven was synonymous with the tasty pastries and cakes served in Starbucks Philippines’ branches. However, word soon spread that they were the supplier of some of the coffee chain’s most popular food items, and customers soon made a beeline for Purple Oven itself to get cakes and pastries straight from the source.

While Starbucks Philippines and Purple Oven have since parted ways, Purple Oven has opened multiple branches to bring more of their famous baked goodies to the public. Starting from branches in Sta. Rosa, Laguna; Oranbo, Pasig, and San Antonio, Makati, Purple Oven now boasts nine branches that have weathered the COVID pandemic’s rush of restaurant and bakery closures. Both dessert aficionados and even those who aren’t fond of chocolate agree that the Classic Chocolate Cake is decadent and rich, with smooth icing that isn’t cloyingly sweet. If you want an extra dimension of flavor and texture to this traditional treat, order their Chocolate Dome Cake with layers of chocolate sponge cake, mousse, cream, and chocolate ganache icing.

If you want bite-sized sweets that you don’t need to slice up, we highly suggest getting a box of their fudgy Revel Bars, citrusy and tangy Lemon Bars, or their chewy, nutty, and rich Fudge Brownies.
