La Luz Beach Resort in Laiya, San Juan, Batangas

I’ve been to many resorts in Laiya, Batangas, and I can say La Luz Beach Resorts is one of the best when it comes to location and the relaxing views.

Unlike most resorts in Laiya, La Luz is located at the end of a long stretch of beach, near a rock formation. So the place is quite peaceful, that you are not actually sharing the beach with other guests from the neighboring resorts.

La Luz knows their strength, they do know it that there is a guard stationed at the end of the long beach. They seem protective of their territory that we were asked many times if we are guests of La Luz. Luckily, we are, because if we’re not, probably we were not allowed to be there.

With the relaxing location of the resort, one thing the management can improve on is to train their guards to ask in a nice manner whether for their guests or not. LOL!

I’ve been to Laiya many times and the latest was extra special because we went there via commute. For the first time, I was able to travel to Laiya via public transportation. If you’re wondering how to get to Laiya or La Luz via bus and jeep, you can check the details at the end of this post.La Luz Beach Resort Batangas

La Luz Beach Resort Experience

The Good- Relaxing beach, view, and the room

I’ve mentioned that the location is the best asset of La Luz Beach Resort, this is the kind of resort that will definitely give you the peace and relaxation that you yearn for.

It is so relaxing that Eloi (my girlfriend) and I fell asleep at the resort’s cabana for more than an hour that afternoon. I know we were both tired, especially her for having a demanding job, La Luz gave us our needed relaxation.

When I say that this is the kind of place that will give you peace, this also goes to apply their rooms. There’s no TV in the room and the internet connection is non-existent. LOL! In some, that could be horrible, but for us, it suited for what we needed at that time. We were able to rest and had a nice sleep.

La Luz also has a complete variety of accommodation for couples to family to big groups. They have the Premiere Room, Loft Room, to Dormitory. For a romantic getaway, they have a room called Hilltop, which is suited for couples.

Aside from the usual massage, La Luz also offers some land and water activities to enjoy such as snorkeling, biking, kayaking, jetski, banana boat, and others. Please see below prices.La Luz Beach Resort Batangas

The Bad

Now, let’s go for the not so good about the resort. As a blogger, we have the responsibility to be fair and tell our readers exactly what it is. So, one thing that is not so good about La Luz Beach Resort in the PHP 1710 Mandatory Food Package per guest (per day).

Yes, that is mandatory. I don’t have to explain to you what this means. LOL!

So you better read your booking confirmation because that info is usually stipulated at the bottom part. The part that no one would even read. LOL!  We booked our stay through Agoda, and I swear I didn’t find any info about that mandatory food package. Well, actually after looking it up again, (after our stay) there is actually, located at the very bottom of the La Luz Beach Resort’s Agoda page. It didn’t even mention the whooping price of PHP 1710 per guest (per day). It only says this.

La Luz Beach Resort Batangas

…AND PLEASE STATE THE PRICE.

So, imagine if you have just enough budget, and then you were told by the reception about this MANDATORY food package for PHP 1710 per person, then you’re a group of five? LOL!

Imagine, if you feel that you’ve scored a good deal for the accommodation for your group, only to find out that you were actually charged more because of this mandatory food package. LOL!

I am not blaming La Luz Beach Resort for this. This is your policy. Your resort, your call. But I just hope that you have the responsibility of making sure that your guests are well informed by stating it CLEARLY in any booking platforms with PRICE. Highlight it if possible, in RED. LOL!

This blog post, is for future guests of the resort, to inform them properly of the extra cost of the food package, so they know what they expect.

But hey, please allow me to say that anything MANDATORY is not good for customer experience. I know you have to earn as a business, but please strike a balance by providing customers freedom and options. Please take a look at the TripAdvisor Page of La Luz Beach Resort and you’ll find reviews from guests who were surprised by this charge. Here it is, La Luz Beach Resort Reviews.

For La Luz, it is still your call if you’re going to continue doing this, but you know everything is online now, people now have the voice to share their experiences. And this can hurt your brand in the long run. I mean, you wouldn’t feel the impact now, but in the future, it might probably will. Every dissatisfied customer has the power to share their experience with their friends and family. Remember, there’s word of mouth and there’s social media.

Conclusion:

That’s it. If you’re going to ask me if I will still go back to La Luz. Well, knowing that I still have to pay for the mandatory food package, if I have the money, why not?

You know that feeling that as a traveler who loves peace and who would occasionally disconnect from social media, I would go back. And in case I have friends who will visit La Luz Beach Resort, by all means, I’ll make sure that they’re aware of the mandatory food package. I’d still recommend La Luz, but I’ll make sure that they’re aware of it, and let them decide.
