In the heart of General Trias, Cavite, located along the streets of Sunny Brooke Drive, lies a culinary gem that has become a staple in our family’s celebrations – Marlon’s Special Pancit Malabon. This family-style restaurant has captivated our hearts and taste buds with its signature dish, the Pancit Malabon, a delightful Filipino noodle dish famous for its rich flavors and savory taste.
You might be confused about the difference between Pancit Malabon and, for example, Pancit Palabok. While they are quite similar, there are distinct differences. Pancit Malabon uses thicker noodles instead of bihon. In contrast, Pancit Palabok features a sauce as a topping, whereas the sauce in Pancit Malabon is mixed with the noodles before being served.
Going back to Marlon’s Pancit Malabon. Despite the noticeable price increase over time, our loyalty to the restaurant never wavered. The appeal of its delectable pancit always draws us back, making it an irreplaceable part of our family’s tradition.
Ordering Marlon’s Pancit Palabok, however, requires planning and patience. We’ve learned to order well in advance, sometimes as early as 9:30 AM for a 1 PM lunchtime delivery. The wait, although long, is always worth it when the dish arrives, bursting with flavors as always.
This year, we decided to do things a little differently for our family reunion. Initially, we thought of a delivery order, but then my sister suggested a walk-in purchase instead.
I made a quick stop at Marlon’s before heading to our reunion venue. To my pleasant surprise, the service was quicker than anticipated. Within minutes, I was on my way with a large bilao of Pancit Malabon, priced at P1200. This experience proves that if you don’t have much time but willing to exert some effort, a walk-in order is a much better option.
As we laid out the Pancit Malabon at the reunion, it immediately caught the attention of our relatives. Compliments led to some questions about where we ordered the pancit. So, I also shared the story of Marlon’s Special Pancit Malabon, our go-to restaurant in Gen. Trias. It felt great to not only enjoy the food but also to introduce our relatives to a taste that has become a beloved part of our family’s tradition.
