I’ve been to Ormoc, Leyte a few years back, and I had a great time.
It was 2015 when the Tourism Promotions Board of DOT invited me for a Press Trip or Familiarization trip to Region 8. We explored the provinces of Samar and Leyte for four days. Since I was born in Northern Samar, that trip was in a way special because I got the chance to interact with my fellow Warays.
After we explored Palompon’s Kalanggaman Island, we traveled by van going to Ormoc. When I hear about the city of Ormoc, one of the few things that come to mind is the 1991 Ormoc flash flood, and of course on the lighter side, Lucy Torres. Hahaha! At least I have some knowledge and memories about Ormoc, right?
The next morning we explored Lake Danao, one of the most beautiful lakes in Leyte. Aside from that, there are many tourist spots in Ormoc to explore like Tongonan Hotsprings National Park, Lake Kasudsuran, Pineapple Plantation among others.

If you are planning to visit Ormoc, you can book a flight to Tacloban and travel by van to Ormoc. But it is also a good idea to visit other places first like Cebu since Ormoc is very accessible from other provinces.

No live animals will be allowed on board. Exceptions are fighting cocks, dogs, cats, rabbits and other household pets. This is provided that the passenger presents a Quarantine Permit and the animals are properly caged.
PregnantPregnant Women
Pregnant women with less than or equal to 24 weeks or 6 months to a full term must sign a waiver of liability in favor of the carrier and must present, upon boarding the vessel, a medical certificate attesting to their fitness to undertake sea travel, otherwise, the carrier reserves the right to deny them boarding the vessel. Pregnant women with more than the allowable pregnancy period may be denied boarding.
Lite Ferries, Cebu to Ormoc
If you’re looking for other options going to Ormoc from Cebu, Lite Ferry is also a good one. Lite Ferries operates as RORO (roll-on/roll-off) known for transporting not just passengers but also vehicles. When I was in Ormoc, I was lucky enough to experience one of the best hotels in the city. It’s Ormoc Villa Hotel located in Obrero St., Ormoc City.
Since my visit to Ormoc was sponsored by the Tourism Promotions Board, they prepared a special dance number to welcome us. Bu more than the warm hospitality, I also enjoyed what Ormoc Villa Hotel has to offer. My room was huge with 2 beds and I was with a fellow blogger as a roommate.
The hotel has 49 rooms comprising of Deluxe rooms, Executive and Presidential Suites. The best spot in the property is the landscaped garden in the middle offering that nice relaxation to every guest. Their in-house restaurant also offers delectable dishes. CHECK ROOM RATES HERE
2. BAYVIEW INN
Bayview Inn is another good option when looking for a hotel to stay in Ormoc. This is located at the heart of the city and less than 2 kilometers from Ormoc Centennial Park, Superdome, and other attractions in the city.
