JUAN CAFE in Gen. Trias, Cavite (Review & Experience)

If you’ve read my past blog posts, you might know that I really enjoy walking, especially in the afternoon. One thing I particularly like about this activity is that I often stumble upon new cafes while exploring my neighborhood.

One afternoon, during my routine walk from home to Pasong Kawayan 2 in Gen. Trias, I came across a small coffee shop named Juan Cafe, situated next to a Lechonan ng Manok. Curious, I decided to step in for my afternoon caffeine fix.

Upon entering, I found the interior quite foggy, as if enveloped in smoke. Initially, I thought I’d been transported to Tagaytay due to the fog, but soon realized the cause when the staff explained, “Sir, sorry. It’s the smoke coming from the ihawan beside us.” I reassured her that for me it was okay, as I only intended to buy some coffee.

She mentioned they had already spoken to the Ihawan or Grilling Area to address the exhaust issue, but no action had been taken.

Juan Cafe Experience

Glancing over the menu, I searched for a suitable coffee option. They offered coffee, milk tea, fruit tea, frappes, and more. I opted for the Iced Caramel Macchiato priced at only Php 48. Quite affordable, isn’t it? Juan Cafe falls into the category of cafes offering drinks within this price range—less than 50 pesos.

As the staff continued chatting while preparing my drink, it became apparent they needed to resolve the issue with the neighboring ihawan. Initially, I had planned to enjoy my coffee inside the cafe, but given the situation, I opted to drink it on my way back home.

After a few sips, I found the coffee to be good but overly sweet, overpowering the flavor. Even when ordering iced coffee, it’s nice to still taste the coffee, even if just a hint. In this case, the sweetness dominated. However, considering the price, one can’t complain too much, right? Overall, it’s still good.

Cafe Juan remains a solid choice for those seeking budget-friendly beverages, particularly catering to students, who frequent the establishment.
