If you’re like me and don’t have a conventional job, you might sometimes find working from home monotonous. So when I’m not traveling, I make sure that I get out of the house to explore some cafes in Gen. Trias.
I can confidently say that I’ve tried all the restaurants and cafes in my area in Cavite, prompting me to venture out a bit more.
So, I explored the road leading to Trece Martirez and discovered Kura Cafe, still situated in Manggahan, Gentri. Being someone who loves walking, this was an ideal opportunity for me to meet my daily steps target while also getting my caffeine fix.
Kura Cafe is located on the ground floor of The Zhang Place Building on the main road going to Trece. It’s easily accessible whether you’re driving or taking public transport. Personally, I enjoy the walk there.

The Ambiance
One of the first things that caught my eye at Kura Cafe was its delightful ambiance. As Gen Z would put it, it’s “aesthetic.” It’s evident that the owners went to great lengths to make the cafe visually appealing, from the tables to the entire setup. This is something new from the usual cafe in my area.
Actually, it’s the only coffee shop in my area that is packed with customers, which speaks volumes about the cafe’s quality and service. The staff are warm and welcoming—a testament to the cafe’s commitment to customer experience.
There’s also a room like an extension of the cafe that’s open to patrons. However, it can also be reserved for private events. It’s perfect if you’re looking to host a cozy, intimate gathering. I remember seeing it once reserved for a family celebration.
The Coffee and Food
My visit to Kura Cafe wasn’t just about the ambiance; I was really interested in the coffee and food too. They have a diverse menu that includes pasta, sandwiches, snacks, and rice dishes. On my first visit to Kura, I opted for the Spanish Sardines pasta priced at ₱180, complemented by an Iced Spanish Latte for ₱140. Their coffee prices are notably more affordable than many mainstream cafes—think Starbucks. They also offer free WIFI and are open 24 hours!
Their extensive coffee range includes Espresso, Frappe, Premium Drinks, and more. I’ve been a regular at Kura Cafe and for a good reason. I’ve also tried their Cappuccino (hot) for ₱125, Creamy Carbonara for ₱185, Nachos for ₱165, Chicken with Fries for ₱210, and other delights. Their 6-piece Chicken with fries is the perfect takeout or pasalubong.

I’ve kept coming back to Kura Cafe, and on my recent visit I tried the Beef Tapa with Egg Rice Meal and it was delicious. It’s probably one of the best beef tapa I’ve tried in a long time. I also ordered Mojos to have something to munch while reading.
